At Meadow Farm we have two forms of hydrotherapy available, swimming in our purpose built pool or Aquatic Treadmill therapy.
In 2008 we started building a new facility part of which is now home to a Hydrophysio HP300 Aquatic Treadmill, currently one of only six in the country. This unit is particularly suitable for treating giant breed dogs as it is the largest unit available.
This is a very dog friendly piece of equipment, having full glass opening doors at either end, allowing dogs to enter and leave without the need to turn round and being low to the ground they can walk in and out with ease.
Placed centrally in the room we have full visibility through the glass side panels, enhancing gait analysis and treatment.
Aquatic treadmill therapy is a very versatile form of hydrotherapy which allows us to fine tune your animal’s treatment.
With a variable water level it is possible to exercise a specific joint through varying ranges of flexion and extension, whilst also finely controlling the amount of weight-bearing on the limbs.
Aquatic treadmill therapy allows us to start rehabilitation post orthopaedic surgery, sooner than has previously been possible, this is most applicable to those dogs that have under gone cruciate ligament surgery.
For neurological conditions this allows us to facilitate walking and encourage quality exercise, also at an earlier stage.
This treadmill provides a brilliant alternative for dogs that are afraid of swimming or are unable to swim due to other health issues. as it allows them to keep their feet in contact with the treadmill base and walk rather than swim.
